Teeming With Birds....

My small back yard is teeming with birds! The sprinklers turn on and they sit on the view fence waiting for the spray to stop so they can fly back into the wet grass. With temperatures of 107+ today, and 116 predicted for the weekend, my back yard has become a bird sanctuary.

This little guy is eating the Elephant's Food plant. After getting his fill here, he flies to the tomato plant.

My cactus plants are producing puny flowers. I totally understand -I too am wilting in this hot weather! Time to take another road trip, but not sure if it's worth it--the" cool" country is hitting the 90's! Guess I'll stay home and pray my 18+ year old air conditioner will make it through another hot summer!

Don't remember the name of this one.

What a cute little birdy on your Elephant Bush!!! I can hardly believe these darn temps! At least here in Florida, when we drove north for a week, it was overcast and rainy and a cool front came down and it was much cooler up there...now we are back in the scorching, muggy heat again! Not as bad as your place though! I feel so bad for all of you out west from Texas over. I think I would stay home and pray for the a/c unit also!!! That is what I am doing here (every summer)...praying the a/c doesn't go out!!! I love your cactus blooms!!! Hang tight...all we can do is dream of our fall temps, eh?????

We must not be too far from each other. It's brutal outside right now. 111 today and even hotter tomorrow. I am new to desert gardening so I am glad I found your blog. Have a good weekend.

116?

Is there a rock I could crawl under? Cause I would not be well...

I loved this post! I have two birdbaths and two feeders that get filled every night before I go to bed. I wake up at 5 AM to every bird in the neighborhood chattering and eating and bathing. It is just wonderful! It has been hot here too, but not that bad, and we've had some rain almost every evening this week.
